I'm planning on using my current slave drive as a master drive in a new computer. It was previously used as an extra storage medium; it's filled with useless data, and I'm planning on formatting, and as a result wiping, it to have a blank drive to install a new copy of Vista on my new computer.

My questions are these:

1. Should I use the provided programs in Windows XP (i.e. Computer Management)?
2. If so, what should I set as my file allocation size?
3. If not, what program would you recommend?
4. What other directions would you advise?

Thanks for reading!

1. grab a dban iso and boot to the cd to wipe the drive
2. once it's done formatting install this drive as the primary boot drive and boot to the vista disk
3. point the vista install to the newly wiped drive
