Partition gives me an error: Error #108. Then when I try to format, it says error #4: Bad argument or parameter. I can't make a partition or format it or anything. And yes, surprisingly, the IBM drive is fine. Partition Magic help says nothing. Help.

What does that have to do with anything? I did a while ago, the drive is fine and linux boots form it fine. Is my only option a LLF?

doubt it would see it, it's all ext3.
he he he "ext3" over my head. guess i'll have to do a search. fdisk's "delete none dos partitions " can't do it ? . bummer
good luck

Since you're formatting the drive anyways - just run the DFT Disk and make sure it's all kosher, then do a LLF. Best way to insure that you're 100% ready to go

Looks like I will have to LLF... by the way chuck, ext3 is a Linux partition.
A few questions...
1. Will hosing the drive, which also contains LILO affect anything? Will win2k just boot normally off of my main drive?
2. Will windows/software/hardware/whatever see a llf'd drive as a normal partitioned drive?
Thanks.

you hose LILO you hose the MBR. be prepared to run Windows setup again to get the Windows MBR reinstalled.

Linux is on a seperate drive. BTW, partition magic shows "bad MBR" for the IBM.

well talked to "my linux buddy" (everybody needs one). he's never seen those error codes. but i'm still not sure why you can't run FDISK and delete all non DOS partitions. if you have time maybe you can explain it. also doesn't the IBM utility have a way to write 1's and 0's to the whole drive ? that would wipe it out.

sounds like the partition table is all messed up , so wiping and formating the drive is probably your only hope.
good luck
