Formatting HD with Red Hat installed?

Hey guys,
Quick simple question,
Can I format a HD that contains Red hat linux (probably partitioned) with Winxp pro CD?
I was thinking to install Fresh WinXP, and also deleting all partitions that may exist.
I am not familiar with linux so I just want to make sure I'm not damaging anything.

I just happen to buy a used 20 gig HD that contain red hat

use a disk or cd run fdisk /mbr command. Then fdisk as usual to create partition then format or let XP do the job durring install.
