I can't seem to find where they're stored. Anyone know?
I just want to be able to transfer my AIM stuff intact after I format my computer. You can export most of your settings, but it doesn't save your away messages.

They are not in a file on the harddrive. Turns out they're in the registry. Can I export them from Win98, and then import them in Win2k? Or will that give me problems?

instead of worrying and trying to figure out a way to import the away messages, you could probably copy and paste them from the registry into a text file to backup, then after you reformat copy and paste back into the registry, probably take about the same amount of time as trying to figure out how to import/export them :)

I guess noone here uses AIM but me?

MY AIM ---> SAVE BUDDY LIST

This feature allows you to save your Buddy List, current Preferences, etc, as a text file that you can later import to retore this configuration on any computer. Check the items you would like to save below:
Personal Profile
Privacy Preferences
Sound Preferences
Text Composition and viewing settings
Buddy List

Depending on what version you have, check your Windows or WinNT root directory for an AIM directory. They usually keep all your buddy icons and such in there.
