Formatting a new Lenovo

My brother got a Lenovo sometime around the first of the year. He says it's pretty slow so I suggested formatting and reinstalling the OS (Vista Ultimate btw).

Now, I know it didn't come with cd/dvd's so does the lenovo have a recovery partition?

If it does, is it really worth it to restore it back to the original state or would it be better to do a normal fresh install of ultimate?

I assume even the restore OS would have countless "bloatware" that he will not use. How can I do a true format? DO I need to just find an ultimate dvd and use his key?

vista is a memory hog. if it only came with 1gb ram then thats probably one of the reasons why its slow.

also yes all laptops come with a recovery partition

My Lenovo T60 came with a Microsoft "Anytime Upgrade" DVD. It also has a $Restore Partition.

Nothing at all wrong with Vista as long as you have at least 2 GB of RAM.
