Formatting a 2 partition HDD

I'm fixing a friend's computer, whose Windows hasn't been reformatted in 3 years, so that's what I'm doing now.

My question: the guy who built the computer divided the Hard Disk into 2 partitions, C: & D:. I backed up everything on D:, so if I just reformat C: will D: be affected? Dumb question, but I don't want to lose all her data 🙂

Thanks for your help!

nope, by formatting c:, you are not deleting anything on the d: partition.

However, if you went into Fdisk and deleted the partitions, that would destroy all the data; but of course I don't think you would do that.
