I have a 1.2 Maxtor HD. My brother formatted the drive for 635 Megs, because his BIOS on this 486 machine would not go any higher to support a 1.2 gig HD. Now he give me the drive. How do I go about reformatting the drive? It's been so long. Do I use the FORMAT command? Or the FDISK command? I want to install Windows 98 back on it when done. Do I need a 3.5" floppy to do this? The computer only has a 3.5 floppy, CD drive, and a 1.2 Gig HD. How do I do this?

Use FDISK to delete that 635 meg partition, then create a new partition that's the full size of the disk. After you do this you can either use the format command or just boot Win98 setup which will format it for you.
