Help.

I formatted a partition from a RAID 0 setup during a windows xp installation and now when it tries to reboot it cannot detect both the drives in RAID 0 . I use the Intel on board RAID and it stalls on the bios reboot. I formatted a unallocated drive to ntfs during a windows xp setup. I didn't know you can't format a partition like that... can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Did you install the Intel RAID drivers at the very start of the XP Installation process (using the "F6" key and a floppy disk)? When you install the drivers from the floppy disk, you need to leave the floppy in place until XP tells you to remove the floppy.

I just found out its has nothing to do with the formatted partition. i have two sets od RAID 0 and the formatted partition set is still detectable. The other set is the one that hangs the AHCI boot sequence. that set had some MBR problems. i was going to fix it with a new windows install, but now that set doesn;t get past the AHCI boot sequence, how can i fix the MBR now...?

i did use the floppy, but i never got to installation, i just reformatted a partition and then it said it could not detect the drives and when i rebooted i got it hung on the AHCI screen.

Thanks for the advice...

Wow... thanks for the overwhleming support and aid.

But really thanks RebateMonger for the only one responding.

If anyone cares this is what i did.

1. i had to delete all the MBR and partition information on the drive that would freeze on the bios post in non RAID mode.

2. I had a failed raid array so then i went into the RAID bios and deleted the other drives RAID info and then created a new RAID array using the exact same information

3. when i rebooted i didn;t touch the drive except to initialize using MBR.

4. I used a deep scanner for the entire drive and sorted the partitions that i could see files and folders. (this took 10 hours) (Active@)

5. using power recovery partition i am copying my files now.
