Hello again. Right now, I have a computer that has a dual boot with RedHat 8.0 and Windows XP, each OS on a different harddrive. My Windows harddrive is crowded with all sorts of crap, and I think it would be easiest to backup some stuff and format the harddrive. If I format my windows hdd, will it affect GRUB (my OS chooser), or anything else having to do with RedHat?

You mentioned that each OS is on a different hard drive. Where is grub installed? in a /boot partition? the mbr of the hard drive with xp or redhat?

If grub is in a /boot partition or the mbr of the hard drive with RedHat on it, you don't have to worry about anything.

If grub is in the mbr of the hard drive with XP on it, when you go to install XP it will wipe your mbr, and you will have to boot to some sort of linux rescue disk to reinstall grub.

Alright, thanks :). I'm pretty sure I created GRUB on a linux /boot partition. Is there any way to check this though? Its always safer to know for sure...
