Formating a new 30GB HD into a single partition?

Hello,
I'm about to pick up a new 30GB HD (Quantum Fireball Plus AS) to complement my existing HD (DiamondMax Plus 30GB).
I'm using Win 2k & NTFS in my current HD (partitioned in two). I'm thinking about formatting the new HD into a single partition.
I find it annoying to have more than 3 partitions.
Would I lose any HD performance this way?
Would I waste space?

Thanks.

It would take A LONG time to defrag, scandisk, etc.

What if you want to format your drive in the future? Where are you going to put all your data with only one partition?

Personally, I say make two at minimum.

Why is it annoying to have extra partitions?

I don't have multi-partitions but I do have three hard drives. Which one of them is used for backing data only.

I'm going to format it with NTFS.
So I won't have to defrag it often.
And since its gooing to be used just for data, I shouldn't have to format it for a long time.
I'm tempted to transfor it into a dynamic disc, and use dynamic volumes on it. It's the only way that I would split it.
