Format time for 100+ GB HD?

About how long does it normally take to format a HD with around 120 GB of storage space (7200 rpm)? Just was thinking about that when I was complaining about my 20 GB HD taking too long to format, I cant imagine waiting for a 120 GB drive to format.

Format goes real fast when you use the /q switch.

format c:/q
I've found that after the windows 95 bootdisk... format C: only gives you an "bad command" error...

maybe it's just me but that's always been the case for me...

That's because you need to copy your format.com to your boot disk.

Well, I usually like to do a full format, so it will scan for bad sectors, and re-map if neccessary. I have the WD1200JB, and WD1000BB, and WD800JB, and the full format seems to go fastest on my WD1200JB, then the WD800JB, and then the WD1000BB. If I had to say how long, about 30-40 minutes for the full format.
