Format removable media with NTFS on XP Pro?

I have various removable devices (100MB Zip, 1GB Jaz, Disk-On-Key USB flash drive, et cetera) that I use with my XP Pro system. Now I have discovered that (unlike Windows 2000) XP refuses to allow me to format these as NTFS volumes :disgust:

Anybody know how to override this unwelcome behavior?

AFAIK, that's not possible...

If this is truly "not possible" in Windows XP (it worked fine in Windows 2000) can anyone explain why?

I can format my 100MB Zip NTFS with XP Pro. Just did it to make sure.
