format HD on XP???

How the heck do you format the primary HD with XP Pro other than slaving it to another computer?
My friend has a laptop and needs to format her C drive, but windows won't allow her in the DOS prompt.
Is there something that I can do to start up in MS-DOS mode?

  1. use a win98 bootdisk
  1. the XP cdrom is bootable and will allow you to format and partition a HDD
