I love the anandtech forums, and its for sale/trade especially, however because(thank g-d) there alot of people in the forums, its some times a little too much information to search the item you want, or the wtb list of the users. My idea is to have a format so we can all relate to, so when i lets say, goes inside an user for sale list,i'ld see something like this for example:

1. List of items for sale
2. List of items for WTB/WTT for
3. Contact info - if want extra, since we have a profile
4. Comments
5. Sold list

That way it makes so muh easier for all the user to search inside peoples post, since we know where each info is already. Imagine if amazon was no structure in a way that every item is display in the same manner as all the pages, then it would have been impossible to shop there.

This is my suggestion to improve the forum.

MMX.

Not adjustments, but new post must follow a certain way. It doens't have to precise like what i suggested, but something in the lines.

It would be a bitch for the mods to regulate on everyone who didn't. Only way I could see this working is if FS/FT had form-generated posts or something (which would be REALLY cool) but I don't think it's possible.

I'm not talking about MODS regulating. I'm talk about the users(we) creating a type of format to follow, doesn't have to followe my example, but to have stuff like:

BOLD titles for categories(for sale, WTB/T, Contact.....)
Seperations of categories, not to cramp everything together.

Stuff like that, I'm telling you i could have search many more post for the same time it takes me to search a few.

I just think we need to improve how to post, it benefits the buyer and the seller, and also potential buyers.
Sometime i don't want to buy nothing, but then i go inside someones post, and i see something i always wanted. I magine if the post were cleaner? i could have bought many other things already. Not that i can afford.

Maybe we could make a form for people to type their info in and it spits it out in a well formatted manner to copy and paste?

I'm sure it's probably a good idea.. I've just never had too many problems searching for items myself.

Leaving items listed(with prices) even in a SOLD listing creates its own problems for those doing a search, which happens to be one reason why I don't like leaving SOLD items listed with prices - who wants to do a search and get all kinds of hits for things that aren't available for sale?!? There's like zillions of places on the Web to look for ballpark prices on items.

Oh, sorry.. I'm ranting again..

Shopping is no problem. I use the super-d-dooper search function. Works like a charm.

Say I want 256mb of Samsung ddr pc2700. I will search for "256", then "samsung", then "ddr".

All the other stuff you want is gravy.

I too came to AT because of the FS/T forum.

Good Luck.
