IMO, this is also barbaric. Cut as you eat, heathen!
But the knife isn't getting switched around, if anything switches hands it is the fork...I can. It's not difficult.
BTW-Europeans think we're crazy for switching the knife around to cut and eat.
It is shocking to me that my wife (and her entire family) cut with knife in the left hand and insist that is the correct way. We might be getting divorced over this.
My question is how long you have dated your wife and been married. Just wondering why it has it taken so long for you to notice this?
But then I am from CA so that probably means I should just shut the hell up.
I don't even understand how you could hold the knife in your right hand unless you were left-handed. :hmm: Of course I've never really understood the utensil switching thing either (cutting, then switching the fork over to the right hand); seems like a complete waste of time and energy.

I'm right handed and cut with my left. The fork never leaves my right hand, nor does the knife ever leave my left throughout the meal.

Knife always goes in the right hand. You cut while holding the meat still with the fork in your left hand. Then you quickly transition the fork to the right hand and eat it. Rinse and repeat.
Always maintain eye contact with those in front of you that also have weapons. Preferably with your back against a wall to prevent sneak attacks from behind.
Someone take a lunge at you while the knife is down? Well that's when you whip out the classic:
POW THE OL' FORK IN THE EYE!!!
They'll never see it coming. Or anything ever again for that matter.
Everyone knows this.IMO, this is also barbaric. Cut as you eat, heathen!
You are finally right about something! Congratulations! This isn't an issue. The big issue is how do you hold the fork when cutting. It's to be held cradled in the palm of the hand with the index finger pointed towards the tines as pictured below. Holding it any other way and you're just embarrassing yourself.

Interesting how all the Canadians that have responded hold the knife in their left hand. And by interesting I mean confirmation that you're all from a different planet.
