I would much rather go back to bussing tables if you paid me $15/hr. Life was a lot simpler. I'm not a pansy. :\

Ugh, not me. Dirty, smelly, hard work. Call me a pansy all you want but I still remember having to pick up deli trash from the outside trashcan at a Wawa in southeastern Pennsylvania in August. *shudder*

God damn I work so fucking hard and had to suffer so much to get where I am, and look at all the fucking leaches I have on my skin. They are sucking out my very life substance. I want to die.

Shut your ass Moonbeam, you're going to take three beautiful women to high end home decorator show houses to help you fabulize your other house so you can live in style when you want a change of scenery. You're lucky to be alive. Don't waste your life in self pity envying other people.

Those welfare comparisons usually use ridiculous medical care coverage/costs to balloon their benefit amount.

Folks on welfare are not thriving, I thought we just cut food stamps. Problem is that middle class is suffering, not that welfare is a boogyman.

Well, except for those states which raised minimum wage.

All of a sudden, jobs were being filled left and right.

In other news(old but still news) 20 of America's biggest corporations pay no taxes but collect millions in subsidies out of your tax dollars.
Apparently they must also have no employees

Any I would expect that you as well as the other anti-corporation peeps do not itemize on your taxes. Only use the 1040EZ:hmm:

What. Stocking inventory SUCKS. It physically demolishes you, tons of bend down, lift heavy, back breaking stuff.

IKR, zero responsibility and you don't have to think much either. Plus you know exactly what to do everyday. It really sucks ass. :whiste:

Our commander in chief is properly following his teachings at Columbia University.

Cloward and Piven would be proud.

Certainly there is a more logical way to deliver benefits than an all or nothing system. Similar conundrums exist for workers that are near to entering a higher tax bracket. Net result is that success is discouraged. Some simple formulas could be used to administer benefits and calculate tax brackets that would eliminate "stair steps" and provide continuous curves to the amount of benefit/tax that would eliminate transitions and smooth barriers to progress.

This is not how tax brackets work. Only your income that exceeds the new tax threshold is taxed at the higher rate so there is never a time where you are discouraged from earning less money.

Sounds like a free workout.

Also target has plenty of small merchandise.

Forklift puts goods on cart. Push cart to shelf. Place items on to shelf. What is hard about that?

I've noticed that a lot of people who complain about taxes actually have no idea how taxes actually work.

Normal workouts don't last 8 hours. Also, the complete and totally ignorance of how this kind of work is is laughable and is also a reason I can't take you seriously. Do you think small merchandise just comes individually and that workers have a choice to spend all day hanging up small merchandise one by one all day and never have to do anything else? They're packed into very large and many times very heavy cases piled high and stacked awkwardly.

I did this kind of work when I was young, lifted properly and everything. At the end of the day, I hated my life and couldn't imagine doing it when older. It demolishes your back health quickly.

I have to bet you have never worked a legitimate minimum wage job, simply because you seem to think that minimum wage jobs are some sort of vacation.

You can have your opinion, but brackets are an anachronism at this point, left over from when people used slide rules to do calculations. We can do better, especially in the administration of benefits. There should be a net benefit for hard work, and revised methods of eligibility calculation could help.

I think it partly comes out of what you expect of working.

Liberals seem to have some idea that work is some kind of awesome fun super rewarding thing. But I mean they have to. Kinda hard to get women to decide to join the workforce if you don't keep up that illusion.

^ This. If you don't want people on welfare then pay them living wages, it is just that simple. Otherwise you complainers shut the hell up.

So then please explain to me why the fast food workers in NYC want $15/hr.

http://livingwage.mit.edu/places/3606151000

According to the calculator that is either slightly to high if we are talking about a single person. Or massively too low if we are talking about a single mom with 2 kids(whom liberals normally think is entitled to a living wage).

When can we expect liberals to start campaigning for a minimum-living wage of $32.30/hr?
