You won't need one to "install" BIOS. That will be there. You may need one if you have a SATA drive.

But if you purchased Windows XP, the disc is most likely SP2 and you should be ok.

Depending on the MOBO ( Motherboard ) you can use a bootable CD or USB flash drive.

Yes I did order a SATA drive am I going to have to run to Frys?

It depends on the motherboard chipset. If it's one based on the nForce 3 or nForce 4 chipsets, you don't need a floppy to install on an SATA drive, only when you're attempting a RAID.

Is there a floppy in this system you're typing on? If you can, just take it out while you use it for the SATA drivers and then put it back.

Does it matter how old the system is?

A floppy drive is a floppy drive. If it works with normal 3.5" floppies, it will be fine. Sounds like you might not even need it though 🙂

Nope, does not matter as long as the floppy drive works.

If you do decide to buy a floppy drive and need a card reader, then get one of these.

I use floppy dirves pulled from 10 year old systems.
