Its a netgear FSM750S 48 port switch. We forgot the password and were having problems figuring out how to restore it to factory defaults.

thanks

The manual says "If you forget your password, contact NETGEAR technical support at 1-888-NETGEAR (in North America)."

Sorry if my response came off the wrong way, I didn't mean to sound condescending. I looked at the manual, and that is all I saw about resetting the password. My assumption is that there is some top secret way to do the reset, and you have to phone them to get it. If they told you to look at the manual, as far as I can tell the manual doesn't have that info.

Yea, it doesn't have anything about reseting the password. The only thing tech support told me was to use the console port to get into and that would bypass the password??? They really need to learn what they are doing there, thats pretty bad. But anyways I lost it after they told me that and told them to transfer me to someone that knows what they are doing and speaks english. That person said they didn't have a clue how to do it and gave me an email address of someone that is soposed to know how. I opened the switch up and there is a button in there but all it does is reset the switch, it doesn't restore to factory defaults. I tried holding it down forever, pushing it different sequences, and holding it down while turning the unit on, nothing has worked yet. I'm still waiting for a response from the man I emailed at netgear. Hopefully he will be able to help me. You would think if someone bought a $1500 switch from them they would give a little bit better support.

Thanks for the help

I have just recently decided to not do any business with Netgear products anymore.

There tech support is HORRIBLE!

I'm sticking to Linksys from now on. Makes me feel good that they are now owned by Cisco too.
