Forgot password on administrator account - XP

I've forgotten my password for the main administrator account on my XP system. It's logged in BTW.

Is there way I can remove the password or get a new one without deleting or reformatting?

Reformatting is out of the question fyi.

HELP!

I'm a n00b.

😀

CTRL ALT DEL, Change Password. Or via the command line: net user your admin account's name new-password-here, e.g. net user superuser icecream5 or whatever.

Can you please explain that in English?

I did Ctrl Alt Del and found no option to change password. I went to users and right clicked - no option other than disconnect and log off.

HELP!

I don't have my CD!

My brother rebooted the computer on accident and I'm stuck using a guest account (selected through safe mode.) What the f**k do I do?

Blank the Administrator password using this utility. It works fine with XP. Follow the directions carefully.

Geez I'll have to ask my jerk off father to help me with this one. Been reading through it for 2 hours and still don't get it.

Is there an easier solution for an inept guy like myself?

No doubt the old jerk off will be happy to drop whatever he is doing and help you out.

open CMD
type "net user" and press enter

then type "net user administrator shift+space+8 ( not the 8 on the numpad)
make sure that you have a space between net and user and administrator but not a space between administrator and " shift+space+8)
after this it will prompt you to put a new password for the user
i dont think you will be able to see what you are typing
you have to enter it twice
tell me if it worked

Or...

1. Create a new username w/admin priv.
2. Login with new username
3. Delete old admin user.
4. optional: recreate old admin user.

After 2. might be able to reset old admin password skipping the need for 3. and 4.

If you're logged in a guest now, you won't be able to create a new account or reset the password on the admin account.

 If it did work it sure would defeat the purpose, eh? 😉 😀

Best option is use the utility RebateMonger posted.
