Since i havent been in the bios for so long i forgot the password! which is great.

Any help pleaSSEE!??

System memory wipe and reload everything? I donno if that clears bios so you might be screwed.

Could always buy another laptop 😛

That wouldn't clear the BIOS unless you find that 3.3volt battery and yank it too, assuming there isn't a clear CMOS jumper somewhere to be found?

See if this unit has a CMOS jumper. In the desktop world if you span it and power up the board, the CMOS will reset.

Reloading the HD will not help you!

As a last resort call Compaq/HP. If you registered your purchase, a call to Compaq/HP may help. There will probably be a charge though.

Good luck.

In newer laptops you can not reset the bios password by pulling a battery or shorting a jumper. Least on ThinkPads anyway...though most of the industry is the same on that.

HD passwords are stored in firmware on the drive. Hope you remember that one as you'll never access that drive again even if you get into the bios.

POP - Power on Passwords can be reset.
