http://gizmodo.com/this-monstrous-battery-can-charge-your-phone-for-40-day-1772000022

* $500 ($399 if you pre-order! Promo code: ANKPower)
* Can charge your phone for 40 days
* (4) USB ports
* 12VDC outlet (for car gadgets)
* 3-prong outlet (wall-style)
* Can recharge a laptop 15 times
* Can keep a mini-fridge running for up to 7 hours

It’s not limited to only topping up your smartphone, either. In addition to four USB ports on the front, there’s also a 12-volt DC outlet for powering gadgets designed for your car, and a standard three-prong outlet for powering anything that plugs into a wall. The PowerHouse can recharge a laptop 15 times over, or even keep a mini fridge running for up to seven hours.

You could probably make this. I would have added an extra car port.

Neat, I built a similar system but mine is much more bulky... and no electronics. I want to add electronics to it though, to see voltage and what not. Also got a 350w pure sine inverter to go with it, will need to build the box bigger to incorporate it.

Neat device. I'd have to concoct reasons to use it in my house/workflow. If I did a lot of road trips I'd consider it.

I couldn't find where it says how many amps it can provide to the various ports.

I don't see the manual online, but it's available on Amazon now:

Only things I really found was that it's ~400Wh & shuts down if you try to draw more than 160 watts. Also found some competitor devices:

Only way I see using this is in camping situations. Even then most campsite have electrical.

Bummer, it could've made for a nice battery for using a projector. Maybe one of those LED ones (there's a 720p LG one that actually has a built-in battery).

It's very slow:

that totally depends on the size and scale of the panel.
lol...

Sure if ur not worried about size, like out camping, a 200W panel + charge controller + deep cycle battery + inverter could run you as much as that single unit and provide better rate of return.

Yeah but it would be pretty big.. 200W panel's aren't small, and i dont think i would want to charge a 70-90ah deep cycle battery off anything lower then a 180W-200W as it would take forever.

I have a better idea: Forget about your phone during a zombie apocalypse. Nobody will be on social media to like your crappy pictures and vertical videos anyway. ;)

It's very slow:

A few of these will keep your banks topped off for long nights. ;)

And if you're way north (or south) perhaps consider a radioisotope thermoelectric generator for those long winters. :p

It weighs 9.3 pounds! You are not going to tow it around. Good for camping though.

16 hours for that size battery bank is actually not that bad. At 120ah that's more than a typical marine battery. I'm not sure if that's rated at 12 volts or not though. I see it has a cig lighter plug so I presume the main battery is at least 12v, unless they use a boost converter for it.

120ah at 3.6v is way less power than 120ah at 12v. So wonder if it's a marketing trick. Would be better to tell us how many watt hours it is. This seems like it would be good for camping if anything, a bit more compact than my huge setup lol.

if we ever have another Hurricane Sandy type event barreling down upon us here in the NYC area, I'll pick up one of these. Or maybe its half-baby cousin for $250
