Just bought a CD off amazon and the moment after purchase, the mp3 version was freely available on amazon cloud. Something I have never paid much attention to before.
Pretty slick.
And since I have unlimited data plan, streaming is a non issue.
So I did as amazon suggests and shot up 250 of my music collection to their cloud.
All available on demand via streaming.
I thought that was pretty cool coming from amazon.

Their mp3 cloud is definitely boss. They just need to improve on the interface a little bit more and it'll go mainstream.

Never used ITunes or Amazon.

Memory is dirt cheap I just simply have no reason too. I also don't require my entire 100gb music library at the tip of my finger wherever I go.

They also included CDs purchased in the past before the policy started.

At last, you can redownload purchased songs. I was wondering when they would get around to this.

But then, how long has this been allowed? You can't redownload from the product pages, I see you must go in the cloud to do it.

Yeah it's pretty slick. I had a Prime trial after I got a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas and checked it out for the first time then (I have since signed up for Prime anyway).

They actually sent me an email saying an album I had bought back in like 2005 was available in MP3, I thought that was pretty cool, haha.

I still need to upload the 250 songs from my collection but I don't really listen to much music anymore.

Apple's iTunes Plus 256 kbps AAC files are higher quality, in theory, than Amazon's VBR 256 kbps MP3 files. Both are DRM free. Although most would be hard pressed to hear a difference.

Yeah but you get the CD as well from Amazon so quality wise Amazon definitely wins.

is the android app still lousy? i love amazon prime, and get my music from amazon...but that app has been terrible when i tried it. the first iteration, no matter how i set it, tried to download ALL of my music to my phone. it filled it up and i coldnt use it.

after that i tried again a few months ago and it wouldnt update when i bought new music so i couldnt download anything right to my phone, i even signed out and back in. grrr.

I much prefer iTunes Match. You can stream and download the songs you want to avoid needless data charges. For those that have unlimited data plans, it really doesn't matter, but for others, that's a big plus.

It's cool that Amazon is automatically making available the music in their cloud for future CD purchases though. They did that for me with my most recent BD purchase. As soon as the BD shipped a rental version was made available in my Amazon Instant Video app. Pretty cool.

Getting 92 old CD purchases added instantly from AutoRip was nice. It's also nice to have new CDs available as soon as I order them, even before they arrive and I rip them. (To lossless FLAC for my music jukebox.)

The player works great on my Kindle Fire.
