I have a laptop that I HAVE to sell this week. I leave for Europe this Friday at 3 AM. I won't be home until July 27th. If I keep this baby, it will depreciate so much, I will take a huge hit on it.

I have a BIN and of course some piece of sh!t buys it. I can't file an unpaid item report, so I will have to eat the final value fee, listing fee, and another listing fee to relist. (~$100) :|

Not really, this guy will have his account suspended. Created with fake info, he'll have another one if he doesn't have a half dozen already.

I know using ebay, you must assume this risk of annoyance, but it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Well if you trust me and gave me your ebay info, I could login for you and do the whole non-paying bidder deal. After all I can't really do much with your account (at worse I can bid on stuff and not pay and get your account cancelled), but I would honestly help you with the non paying bidder crap.

I've had to deal with 3 nonpayers in the past 2 months =/ Annoying but I got my fees back.

I hate ppl who leave me neg feedback also. 1 was someone who claimed sent me a check (despite paypal only) and no I received nothing, and couldnt even contact him. I left him neg for not paying nor responding, and he left me a neg saying he paid. WTF.

Another person didn't pay, adn we agreed to leave pos feedback, and instead he leaves me neg and later apologizes saying he meant to leave for someone else... grr...

Know how that goes, been there done that...

Just relist it and you'll be able to get your refund as soon as the seller becomes no longer registered on ebay.

Make sure to leave them negative feedback as well so that other potential sellers don't get screwed from this particular scammer at the moment.

Appreciate it, but I will just login when I am overseas sometime. I have yet to get a Neg, but I know my time is coming. Some fvckwad is going to ding me with a Neg for some idtiotic reason.

I'm not too experienced with this stuff, but what's the problem with him sending you a western union money order? I mean, you can cash it before you send him anything, right?

Also, if you know this kind of thing happens a lot, why didn't you restrict bidding to North America only?

The scam is that you don't actually get the money order before they send the DHL, Fedex, UPS guy. You get sent a spoofed Western Union email saying that a money order for $X amount is on its way to you.

People who fall for this, then decide it is ok to give over the laptop <insert highend electronic> to the delivery guy at their door for pick up.

That or then send you a fake money order. Your bank will cash anything and reem you for it later.

You can't really restrict bids to a certain area. I have a strict policy of only shipping to the continental 48 States. This is seen several times throughout all of my auctions. This is the thing about scammers, they will win your auction, knowing you say you don't ship overseas and they try to convince you otherwise.

Usually they will offer you more money and cover all the shipping expenses. The naive think this is a win-win, but they lose more than my $100.

They did a report on this recently on one of the investigative reporting shows. These nigerians are making a killing off of these dumb fools on Ebay. It's mostly kids who work in conjuction with these crooked internet cafes and they literally spend all day long in these cafes trying to screw people over. It's amazing really but considering how poor they are over there and how much money these kids can make, it makes sense.
