Forget Guacamole at Costco. Fresh Avocados ftw!

I usually get them from Aldi when drop <$1/per. I slice to the pit long ways all the way around, pull it apart, remove the pit, then peel. I cut them into chunks, and just put a little salt or Adobo on them. Makes a good snack.

how can you tell if an Avocado is not ripe, or too ripe?

press near the top?
rock hard = not ripe, soft like banana = too ripe?

I'm not an expert, but I like them medium brown. Pressing medium-firm should leave an indent. I've had mixed luck getting them green. Sometimes they ripen nicely, other times not so much.

Obviously.
not so fast.

the 6 avocados weight 2.7lbs, according to the package and costs $7.
three 1lb packages of guac costs $9.

so I'm only saving a little over buying premade.
plus i have to wait til the avocados ripen b4 eating it.
guac = instant gratification of eating it NOW

You're also getting ginormous pits with avocado. If your happy with premade taste, I'd just buy that. I like plain chunk avocado, so I usually get whole fruit.

For a time crunch sake, sure. But homemade is superior. For a real twist, mix some guac with mayo and some yolks to make guac deviled eggs. Amazing.

Avocado always kind of reminded me of hardboiled egg yolk anyway.

Best Guac recipe:

4 avocados
1-2 Roma tomato diced- seeds removed
dash of garlic powder
salt & pepper
Tapatio hot sauce 6-8 dashes
1/2 lime - juice squeezed

Use a fork to mash in order to keep it chunky
