The graphics look crappy because it's Youtube. It actually looks a lot better in another version I've seen of that video. Saints Row (the original) was a lot of fun, I'm sure Saints Row 2 will be better. Just Cause 2 is another sandbox game I'm looking forward to. The first one had some flaws, but was a great concept.

Hopefully this time you don't need to build up respect by doing the side missions just so you can continue with the story.

I thought the respect missions were pretty enjoyable actually. And since the video showed at least one of those side missions (insurance fraud), I'm guessing they're still a requirement for doing the story missions.

I didn't like saints row 1 very much, but the second one looks pretty good.

And I thought I'd play GTA4 for a while. I'm so sick and tired of it... nothing interesting to do and all the missions seem so cookie cutter to me. I dunno, maybe the whole sandbox genre is starting feel stale to me.

I think GTA 4 sucks. I don't see what the big hype is. It's okay but definitely not as good as some people make it out to be.

I'm convinced that sites like Gamespot, IGN, and so on were paid off by either Rockstar (to sell games), Microsoft (to sell consoles), or both to get perfect 10 scores. AFAIK, no other game in history has gotten a perfect 10 on Gamespot. Smells fishy to me. Especially since this game is nowhere near deserving of a 10.

My main complaint with it is the controls. They're TERRIBLE. They won't even let you invert the horizontal camera axis which is completely insane to me.

meh, I'm bored with GTA4 and I'd have gotten just as bored with this.

If I'm going to burn myself out on an open world crime simulator, it might as well be the original one.

I thought this thread would be about the insanely-awesome-looking sandbox style game, Infamous. Just saw it on the newest GameInformer cover and it looks amazing.

It's funny how anyone can be a critic

It's funny how you pair MS with GTA4. Last time I checked it wasn't an exclusive.

GTA had all of those kind of things in San Andreas. They intentionally made 4 a more realistic game.

SRSLY, and you can still do most of this in GTA 4. BFD.

'Most' of it doesn't count. Graphics aside, the fact is GTAIV is a step back in the series. The game is way overrated; 8 at best.

It does count when the only stuff they took out was the stupid shit, like miniguns, parachutes, tattoos etc. That's all people are moaning about. GTA IV was about being more realistic and visceral, not a stupid sandbox.

I'm not sure what score I'd give it. No other company can match Rockstar for the effort that goes into creating the world and the level of detail they achieve is astounding. At the same time, there are areas that are flimsy or need work. I've played it for over 60 hours now and still haven't got 100%, but I'm playing it once a week now instead of every day.

ugh, i'm so sick of people moaning about how it got a 10 from a lot of places. get over it already. the fact that it got a 10 doesn't mean it's perfect, and no one has said it is. a 10 simply means that when compared to the current line of titles, it excels. and whether you agree or not, it does. it is one of the most immersive games out right now. just because you don't think so doesn't make it so. and just because they took out some of the flashier things that you liked isn't a reason to down the game all the time. you can customize your MP character, which is really all anyone else is going to see, so what's the friggin problem?

Don't get me wrong, I'll pick up Saints Row one of these days, and I'll probably play 2 as well. I'm a fanatic for sandbox games. But I see no reason to slag off GTA. They're still the kings of the genre.

They are all good games. My biggest beef with GTA4 is that I wish they put more of the San Andreas elements into the game. Like fying, tanks, a shitload of ammo, katana, more gang stuff, vigilante missions (not the stupid cop car computer thing.) But its a fun game anyway, just could have been a much larger environment. I know they wanted it to be a bit more "realistic" but I play games to escape reality. If It takes me 30 seconds to jack a car and end up dead cuz I got capped by a cop as opposed to san andreas were jacking a car took 1 sec and I could escape, then I will take unrealistic anyday, but they are all fun. Looking forward to SR2.
