I have for years drank protein because I lift. In the years past protein was just flat nasty. But Optimum Nutrition makes some really good tasting protein. But they have uncorked a protein that taste better than any protein I ever drank before. Its call 100% Whey Gold Standard Rocky Road. I have been drinking their stuff for about 3 years now, high quality stuff but taste good. They have been cutting loose on some new flavors. I tried their Cookies and Cream and it taste like somebody's butt. But trust me, trust me, the Rocky Road is off the hook. It taste so damn good, its a Hot Deal. :)

I'm still using all the EAS I bought at sams...haven't been lifting as much now that I'm riding 200 miles per week on my bike.

I'll give it a try though.

You should be able to find it at any health food store. 5lbs for me at Vitamin Shoppe was $31. It is by far the most healthy good tasting drink I have ever had. I mixed it in milk.

Not if your like me who consumes no less than 75-100 grams of protein a day from just a protein powder. How something taste means everything when you want to drink or eat it.

I've been working out for a few years, and used cheap protein (Optimum). I've realized that what you pay for protein really matters. While I did like Optimum, I now use Biotest Surge, which is about double the price. But the quality is more than 2x better

Not really. Protein = protein. Just depends on what protein you are buying.

What about the differences between isolate and concentrate, hydrolysate and hydrolyzed, etc etc ?

I haven't tried SAN but Surge is ok, not quite as good as ON protein and certainly taste wise not as good as that Rocky Road :). Get on the Rock homey :D

Surge tastes like heaven. Its sooo good. But you also have to know that a good postworkout drink should have a decent amount of carbs

Isolates, pure ones anyway costs more. Like Isopure for example. The purer the protein the quicker it will enter the blood stream and typically will have a higher degree of Amino Acid content. Egg and Whey are by far the best. Whey enters the blood stream faster, but egg has a slightly overall better bioavailibilty, which means the body likes it better. Milk protein is good for going to sleep, because it lasts longer than the other two in the blood stream because it takes longer to breakdown. Whey is in quicker but doesn't sustain in the bloodstream longer.

As I said it depends on what you buy. This means how it was processed, extracted, etc. As for me I just consume products in which the only processing of the protein is the method of which I choose to cook the product.
