I watched that GIF for eight straight minutes and the slinky clearly never takes off. MYTH BUSTED.

I think the brilliance behind the perpetual slinky treadmill should take a stab at redesigning gizmodo's site. I'm not sure what precipitated such a graphic paralysis, but that cr@p has to go.

Catch - missing weight
Add weight and effects gravity has on MUCH BIGGER slinkies and you will quickly find out why this wouldn't work.
Also, treadmill needs power.....
Worse yet, the entire slinky industry will probably go to a "dollars spent" vs "miles flown" model.
