Foreign exchange students are interesting

Before I continue let me state that I am of Asian descent and am proud of my heritage. BUT sometimes, immigrants DO frustrate me.

I currently am at UCLA taking summer school and working as a lab proctor for the on campus computer labs (labs in the dorms). In the summer, the majority of dorm residents are high school students or foreign exchange students, mostly Korean (there's a big chunk of a Korean university here) or French.

These students are lacking in their ENglish skills, and part of my job is to create accounts for these dorm residents.

Here's how one conversation one last night went

Girl (speaking korean as she comes up to the counter): ex-kiss me, me no can go on computa
Me: Uhh, do you have an account?
Girl: HAH?!
Me: uh.. do... you... have... an... account?
Girl: Oh, i have accont!

At this point I am relieved and continue to go on AIM, then she says this:

Girl: Bank of America?!?!




Wasn't funny at the time but looking back it was pretty funny

Why don't you go to another school in a foriegn country. You shouldn't be suprised when the people running the help desk there says the same thing about you!

well, they are more frustrated. being in a foreign country unfamiliar with the local language is one scary experience.

Sounds like bad tech. So because she has an account so you stop helping and go back to aim? Unless your story telling skills just suck and the girl said it like she totally forgot she had an account and just remembered.

Aside from that, pics? Was she hot? Why didn't you offer to show her around?

Hmm, surprisingly most of the foreign exchange students here aren't great looking, besides the bad English accent turns me off usually.

Why don't you go to another school in a foriegn country. You shouldn't be suprised when the people running the help desk there says the same thing about you!

probably, but english is the most widely accepted language in the world, so i think i would be ok speaking english and having them try to understand

actually i usually go for asian girls but i find the french girls to be more attractive - they just dont shave their arms 🙁
