Ford to Rename 500 Model the Taurus

Because taurus is such a great brand name.... god damn it, just bring the mondeo over and call it a day. The 500 puts people to sleep.

They're OK. You DID have the Mondeo when you got the Mercury whateveritwascalled, you know, the one advertised by David Duchovny.

It was a pretty boring generation and they have got better since, but they are still bread and butter cars, nothing special, I have not driven the new new Mondeo as in Casino Royale.

I was happy to see the Taurus die off.
If they have to change the name, call it the Crown Victoria ... that's basically what it is.
 
WTH? The Five Hundred has a more positive brand name than the Taurus. I don't know why they want to hang onto a name that has represented plain, boring sedans for the last 10 years.

Just admit the Taurus is horrible and move on already. I wonder if the new "Taurus" will be priced like a Taurus or priced like a Five Hundred.
 
it was a bad idea to do away with teh Taurus in the first place.

but renaming the 500 to taurus is not going to help.

Yes, the Taurus is terrible. But, just for verification mind you, could you link to some sales figures proving that claim?
 
Rename it to the Galaxy and give it a bigger motor. 😀

Oh yea, the Taurus is a bad name. People think of lousy cars that always needed repairing (truely, Fix Or Repair Daily).

I didn't particularly like the Taurus, but I like the 500. But I didn't like the Taurus because it was ugly. The 500 is not. I'll like the 500 whether it's called the 500 or the Taurus.

anyway, i think they should keep the actual taurus around for rental fleets so they don't ruin the fusion's name like they did the taurus. and they should keep the 500 the 500. all it needs is the bigger engine. and it isn't exactly in a huge volume market anyway.

People love the Volvo version of this car, but improve it some, and put a Ford badge on it and all of a sudden it's junk? LOL
