Ford to beef up engine for F-150

The Hurricane project comes as Ford is rolling out 11 new engines and transmissions to bolster its powertrain lineup
Pretty good stuff to hear. 11 new engines and trannies for their car line-up. Maybe they'll replace that 4.2L V6 they have in their minivan (why the hell would they put in a 4.2L V6 that makes minimal power??).

Also great to see the power wars start in the trucks segment. Can't wait till the next generation of trucks roll out. I'm sure Nissan is overbuilt the 5.6L and just underrated it for now.

Ford know they dropped the ball on the new 5.4 in terms of power, just trying to make up for it. Way to go Ford!

The general concensus around the F150 forums is that while the new 5.4 is pretty slick, it just seemed like a massive oversight on their part, made much worse due to the extra 800lbs in weight.

I'd be more interested in a diesel option for a pickup.

They're available, you just have to stop looking at wannabe trucks.

He's talking about a light duty truck.

Yes. I don't want a quad cab dualie 6,000 pound machine just so I can get a diesel option. A 4 cylinder turbodiesel in an S-10 or Ranger would be an AWESOME truck.

And calling a light duty truck a "wannabe" truck is just plain retarded, and is something that would only come out of the mouth of a retard.
