the sale is a rumor, and the chinese are one of the rumored purchasers. as the report says, ford has been saying that volvo isn't up for sale. which kinda makes sense as their larger car platforms are volvo derived.

the confirmed news is that people are getting laid off. 1,400 white collar and 600 blue collar.

Heh, Sweden has a much higher quality of life index than we'll ever have, primarily due to the quality of people that live there. They don't have gang bangers, welfare crack whores, illegal immigrants driving uninsured and living in their own sub-countries, etc, etc. It sounds racist, and maybe it is, but a country of almost all white people has things pretty good regardless of the politics behind it. I'm not saying anything negative about races in general, but certain super-negative subculture fuck-ups tend to come from certain races more often than others, making it shitty for everyone involved. And with that, I'll put back on the politically correct mask of silence.

sweden is a country the population of new york city in an area the size of california. just on resource extraction alone they should have a high GDP/capita. CA's GDP/per capita is very similar to sweden's, actually. and my city had more production than their entire country by $80 billion last year (and that isn't even taking into account PPP).

and not only are they almost all ethnic swedes, but 75% are lutheran as well. it's hard to imagine a population more homogenous than that of sweden.
