are you serious?
Kinda, yes, it was either that or the number "9" which sometimes means delete. I had nothing else to go on entering this thread. OK, So it's a typo.

I don't know why everyone's saying Ford Rangers are crappy. My dad bought one in 1994 and it's still on the road today with 295K miles on it. Only fix was at 50K miles for the transaxle. Cost only a couple hundred bucks, but other than that everything works. AC still pumps out very cold air, engine still pulls strong for an I4, heat still works, body is in decent shape (no rust, just dents). Just the other day he and I hauled about a ton of rocks between our two trucks (I have an 04 Tacoma). He's done nothing but change the oil and filter every 5000 miles and air filter every 15,000 miles. He may have replaced the timing belt a couple times, although I'm not sure.

Eh, people just love to bash *insert name of car here* just because they want to act like they are car experts. You gotta do your own research. With rare exception, whichever type of vehicle gave Joe Blow a paltry 50,000 miles of service, also gave John Doe 300,000 miles. It's not always about the quality of the car; more important is the quality of the CARE the owner gives it. But, whoever considers that when someone says something like "Ford sucks! My ranger only lasted 8 miles!". It's too easy to blame the manufacturer, but hey... it's the American way!

That being said, you still get what you pay for. a $9999 Ranger is not a $20,000 Ranger. If you want to whine because the cheap one comes with nothing... ask yourself, "why am I surprised?" Some Rangers are hitting $25K or more. My '05 cost $16K after $6K in rebates/discounts ($22K initially) and didn't even come with power windows, but it does have everything else I want that would NEVER be on the 9999 version. 4x4, V6, most other amenities, tow package, a/c.... It's been a fantastic truck but with only 14K miles so far, I certainly can't offer personal experience on its longetivity. I do know I take good care of it, and I expect it will serve me well for years to come.

I recently bought a 2003 Ford Explorer for about 10k, its a V6 and had 22k miles on it when i bought it. If you are strapped for cash, you should just get a used ranger, just keep on checking autotrader for low mile good deals. Try to get it from a dealer that just wants to get rid of it. My explorer was on a saturn lot, and those people just wanted it gone (plus it was manual).
