How totally ridiculous is this? Australia is importing Mustangs from the US and they're going for this obscene amount of money (Oz dollars). And what's more is that people are buying them!

A 'stang in the US is about $25,000 (US dollars) right? so thats about 2/3 of the average yearly income? so in Australia we pay about 2 times the average yearly income for the same car!! What a joke.

The mustange in America, as I understand it, is a fairly cheap, average persons, muscle car, and makes a lot of sense for the money its being sold for. But over here it's like twice as expensive. In fact its about twice as expensive as an Integra type R ($45,000 Oz dollars)! I think even Mustang enthusiast would agree that a Mustang is not a better car for the money than a Type R is when the price difference is like this. It's crazy, CRAZY!!!

About 54 AUS cents to the US dollar.

So even factoring that in they've added about $25,000 on for fun.

HAHAHHA $46k US is what that works out to. A fully loaded mustang GT 2001 with all of the options wouldn't even think about being that costly for a stock mustang. I guess importing isn't cheap...

Just checked, a fully loaded GT convertible can be had for a tad under $30k with an auto transmission. If you get a 5 spd and its a non-convertible that slices about $5k US off it.

You can practically get a Mustang Cobra R for that price over here in the states (not that I would want to, though).

or you could just build your own killer stang for less :)

$10K for a 600HP streetable motor and tranny isn't unreasonable. (something that will last a while too)
