<< In the first quarter of this year, Ford's North American operations reported a $430 million loss, compared with a profit of $754 million a year earlier >>

Better start the rumor now. "A japanese company will buy out Ford by the end of the decade." I call dibs on that one! :)

I wonder where Ford would be right now if it weren't for the whole Firestone thing:Q

yeah, no doubt the Firestone fiasco had a lot to do with them not selling as many cars ==> less profit, but GM's ramming those $2000 rebates up Ford's ass probably had more of a direct effect on Ford's profitability :Q;)

ya, really, if not firestone. what surpises me is fords ads, with bill ford, where he talks about how old henry went on fishing trips with the old firestone guy and he names firestone by name. :) i'm surprised they still roll those ads. do they really need to remind us that ford had such close ties with firestone?
