Gas is killing you? hehe. So the extra 3-5 dollars a filling is killing you? WOW!
Yes because buying a hybrid for $1500 more will definitely save you money by increasing mere 5-7 mpg.
Honda Civic HX = 44 MPG freeway. Close enough to hybrid and MSRP is $13.9.
Heh. Hybrids are such scams. The Civic Hybrid MSRP's starting at $19,900 -- $6k more -- and gets 47 mpg. 3 whole mpg more. ROI = never. Oooh... you're really saving money on gas... and dumping it right into a higher car payment. Idiots.

BTW, the new Fusion looks very good. I predict Ford sells a ton of 'em.

Fusion = Mondeo, right?

If so, the guys on Top Gear love this car.

Ford Contour was a US version of the Mondeo, but the US has never had a true copy/clone of the Mondeo

What about the new Mondeo? Text

It looks like a bigger version of the Focus, but it's supposedly a very good car.

It looks good to me. Next year when I am in the market I will look at this compared to the Mazda 3 and 6 as well as a few others. We shall see what gets to replace my Mazda 626...

I will be buying one of these, I have a 2000 Taurus, not the sexiest car, but they look pretty nice when you put a little work into them (rims, window tint) I think this Fusion would rock with some 20 inch rims and tint.

The engine seems about on par with the Taurus's, for a 4 door sedan my Taurus has some kick too it. And I love the dash of this, my Taurus has that nightmare all digital that's impossible to replace with after marker crap unless you wanna spend a billion dollars. I see a custom PC fitting perfectly where the factory deck's at :)

You guys haven't had the Fusion yet? It's been out a few months here already
Surely it would come out in the US first?

is a mazda6 powertrain, so you can just use those numbers as a proxy. been on the market 2+ years already, right?

I have cross posted this in Hot deals. Didn't want to start another thread here in OT, so i'll piggyback on. I have 8 spots left, so PM me if you want a PIN to buy a ford/lincoln/mercury/jag/land-range rover/or Mazda.

*no fusions or the mercury milan yet. They are coming this fall 2005.

*Please note: another good offer. They giving away $25 gift cards for test driving a new Mercury. Visit Mercuryvehcles.com/tour for more details. I will try and show up at the Mercury Milan event in Jersey next month.

It's definitely a step up from the miserable failure that the 500 is, but Ford still has a long way to go.

The 500 is a larger sedan that competes more with the Maxima and Avalon.
And at 9k units a month, it's not a miserable failure.

The Fusion is a mid-size Taurus replacement.
Despite the lower price, I still wouldn't pick it over an Altima or Mazda 6.

I thought that the 500 was the replacement for the Taurus, no? If that's the case, I guess that this car is the long awaited replacement to the Contour.

I like the car. I'm actually thinking one might be my next car, in 2007 or 2008. I hope they fix the taillights by then.

i've seen a lot of these in person and i have to say that they look better than in the pictures. it has a real solid stance to it, good proportions, etc. i think it'll be a popular car for them.

It does have that Mazda6ish look on the exterior, but that's okay because I have a Mazda6 and I love it.

Oh and I also really like the interior, 1000x better than the fugly Taurus this is replacing.

in ford's view, both the 500 and the fusion are replacements for the taurus. the 500 is larger than a taurus, and the fusion is smaller than a taurus, but much bigger than a contour.

frankly, i think they should keep the taurus around just for fleet sales, so as not to make people think of rentals when they get into the fusion or 500. they've managed to go without changing the crown vic's panther platform for about 25 years, they could do the same with the taurus.

so you drive it off the lot and you instantly loose more than the $3K you save over the V6 accord, and you're stuck with a ford.
