Ford Fusion Looks Good Except Ghetto Antenna

I have been seriously considering getting a ford fusion and love the look of it except the antenna on the back. It is making me seriously reconsider the purchase. Why don't they get the shark fin and embedded antenna in the glass like everyone else.

Anyone else bothered by this?

No...? If thats the only thing that would keep you from buying one then just chainsaw it off...

But being serious that should not be a consideration...? If it looked like an Edsel then I would tend to agree but even though I`m not a Ford person its a good looking car and has a good rep too...

external antennas generally get better reception that the ones embedded in the windows, and I don't think it looks too bad. better that the whip antennas on older cars.

I wouldn't even bother looking for a new car if you're going to let something as trivial as an antennae sway your choices!

Seriously? The antenna is the only thing holding you back?

Some people have bought the Lincoln MKZ antenna assembly and done a swap, so that's always a possibility. If the antenna is seriously the only thing keeping you from buying an otherwise great car, you have your priorities screwed up.

All Ford cars and SUVs use that antenna now IIRC, except the Mustang. Nothing wrong with it if you ask me.

Don't even notice the fusion antenna but the fiesta is really not where I would want it.

For those that like to sneak in under their garage door when they're pulling in or don't have the patience to let it open fully in the morning, it does make a surprising sound when it catches on the door. 🙂

Pics for those of us who don't hail from the US?

It's one of those things that you won't notice unless you're specifically looking for it. It definitely doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Is Radio/GPS reception good? Then it's a good antenna. It's like hood support struts, people complain it's ghetto if company just puts a stick up there to hold up the hood, but really it's a better solution down the road when the struts go and need replacement, but a stick is just a stick.

I know alot of people who cut off the metal part so it just looks stubby and never had any issues. Maybe you can do it to that too.

TBH when i saw this post i goggled for the fusions main site and couldn't figure out what the fuck the OP was complaining about

Meh - no big deal. I personally prefer the sharkfin-style antennas on modern cars, but this would not deter me in the least if I were looking at picking up a Fusion.

It's incredibly annoying for someone to make a thread like this, take the time to type all this crap up and then expect anyone who reads it to automatically know how the stupid antenna looks on a brand new car. WTF.

i like those antennas. so much better than the mast or whip antennas. the shark antennas often look like crap because the plastic isn't quite the same paint as the car body.
