Ford Fusion is looking good!

Edmunds.com's FIRST DRIVE

Now, if it came as a 5-door or wagon, like the Mazda6, I would be very interested.

Sure, tranversely mounted cupholders may come in pairs, but those inline ones . . . 😉

What a POS. Why youldn't you just get the Mazda 6 instead? Looks a lot better

How could it be a POS and the Mazda 6 be recommended if they're the same goddamned car?? 😕

He's talking about the looks. After seeing more pics of the Fusion, I have to agree that the Mazda has a better exterior, but the interior is a tougher call--The Mazda6's interior has that horrible silver center console.

I like it. It's got a lot more "business" look to it than the boy-racer looks of the Mazda 6.

I really like the looks of the 6s with the sport package, but I like this too. A lot more stately looking than the price tag suggests.

The black on black interior is sharp.

I've always seen those in pairs, too, no matter the make, model, or year.

Oh, and I don't know about anyone else, but my front row, which has only two bucket seats, has 4 cupholders. I'm using 3 of them for storage at any given moment.

Well, among the cars I've owned
1993 Altima: 1 cupholder
1998 Intrigue: 3 unpaired holders
2005 Tribute: 2 unpaired holders in front, 1 pair in rear
2003 Aurora: 1 pair in front, 1 pair in rear
1984 Rabbit: no cupholders 😀

Generally speaking, our rides have always been deficient in the cupholder department.

Pre-2004 S2000s only had a single cupholder, IIRC.

But yeah, its a stupid thing to complain about. Then again, car reviews generally run out of useful things to say about halfway into the article.

Bah I misread the title for a second. I thought it said "Cold Fusion is looking good!" I got all excited for a second. 🙁

It's NOT the same car.

It's not the same car, but all major drivertrain/suspension/electical/etc. are shared between the two. Basically all the major sh!t that could go wrong on the vehicles is the same. So if someone is going to call the Fusion a POS, they'd have to say the same for the Mazda6

And Edmunds Full Test:

Ford has never really offered a proper midsize sedan to battle the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Toyota Camry
well, considering that the camry went from compact box to midsize taurus copy i'd have to say that, at least for the camry, they've got their facts wrong.

why they are complaining about cupholders i'll never know.

as long as ford keeps it off rental lots it'll probably do well. it would do better if ford started a new brand that no one knew was ford, though.
