Glad I didn't wait on the price to order the regular hybrid. I wonder if it really costs that much more or they figure they can sell it for more and just not make many. From what I've read the only real difference is a larger battery. If you're throwing down $40K then might as well get a Volt and get the longer range in electric. Had it been around $36K I would have considered it, especially after the tax credit and the EZ-pass green program.

EDIT: seems invoice is around $36K. Is there an income limit for the Federal tax credit?

As much crap as it took in the press and by observers, the Volt is much more practical than any pure electric solution out there. My sister-in-law has one - I think she lives about 15 miles from work and fills her tank once a month at most. At this point I can't imagine having an all-electric vehicle because of the limitations, and I'm someone who doesn't drive that much any more since I started wfh.
