The T-Bird is one of the few American cars I really respect. Well made, well appointed, good interior/materials, and pretty well styled. Not to mention excellent reliability and solidly constructed, which is amazing considering it's a non-truck Ford! The mistake they made was in overestimating the power of the car's name. Like someone said, with the options you have for 40 grand, nobody's going to buy a Ford.

What the hell is wrong with Ford? They've squandered customer loyalty by mutating their lines to the point where nobody knows WTF is coming next. Remember the disasterous path the Mustang took (remember the mustang II?). Then the Taurus was a complete POS when it came out, and they've FINALLY got it right, even after that awful oval lump machine they built...only to cancel it in a few years. Then the T-bird makes its debut (albiet expensive) and this gets cancelled.

GM has faults of its own, but at least they've kept their priorities straight with the corvette. Say the name and you know what you're getting: 2 seats, performance, power.

I wish Ford made vehicles that maintained the allure they had when most 40-somethings were kids, like the Corvette did.

Isn't the Thunderbird supposed to at least look like a sports car? It looks like a modern day land yacht.

Thank God that car is FINALLY going away. And while we are on the subject, can they do something with the Mustang? If only that thing would go away, my life would be so much better :)

Doesn't surprise me they're killing it off. I've only ever seen one new thunderbird on the road and it was a few weeks ago when I saw it.

I thought the same thing when I first heard about this. Although I think they've already sold enough of these that they can't really be considered a "collector's car" anymore.

Goodbye, POS.

For all of you who were happy to see the f-body GM cars go, how long did THEY last??

Seeing as the Mustang is the direct competitor to the F-body, how long did MUSTANG last? Oh it's still going. :)

Strange, I just checked the Edmunds' "TMV" (supposed to be based on real-life transaction prices) here in Portland, and it's right at MSRP. I haven't seen any ads with cheap TBirds in them , either.
