Ford Fiesta

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys think of this car?

I currently drive a 2002 Dodge Neon. I'm kind of fond of Chryslers. I would like to get a 300, a Charger, or a Pacifica. The Fiesta does strike me though. My only issue is buying a first year model. I don't really know how the American Fiesta will compare with the European one though. My car currently runs but it just feels like it's gonna fall apart. I dunno. It still has the original battery though 😀

The Fiesta is a very solid car at least the previous platform, I have no experience with the newer but I'll buy one when it comes out.

The only thing that I'd be prudent about is the possible new double clutch transmission that Ford may include in the car, but as far as the manual I don't expect problems.

It's only first model year in the US. It's been out in Europe for a while. So no worries.
It's an awesome car for the money.

I'd take a first year Ford over pretty much anything on Chrysler's lot.

Yeah, Ford is spot on when it comes to bringing European cars over here. The Contour was a huge boom for them, the Focus was rock solid... err....

tbh I thought this about the focus when I bought an 01 focus, and while its an ok car the first year on that model had A LOT of recalls and service bulletins, and qierd quirks the later years didn't ahve now this is because it was built in a different plant than the euro one, not sure if this is the case with the fiesta

Just take a look at what it's competing against in Chrysler's lineup of small cars... PT cruiser, the dodge caliber and the jeep compass. With that sort of competition I'll put my money on the ford.

boomhower - Ford employees in North America said the same thing. Thing is - the Fiesta was only a crappy car HERE. Everywhere else Ford sold the thing, it was a much better version. So Fiesta has wide name recognition in the rest of the world as being an excellent car - hence they kept the name.

It really is a pretty spectacular car. I'd consider one if I was going for that size range.

Wha?? I love my contour!! It's a great car.

If the base trim comes with an armrest and cruise control I'd buy it over a Fit just for that.

Well, that's 9 years ago. Ford has been fairly successful getting quality right from the start since then.

to my point....why name it something even close to that thing

Because the Fiesta name has been in use by Ford for this model for over 30 years.

So they rebadged an out dated Mazda and sold it to you. Be mad at that, not that the name might be similar. The Fiesta has a solid reputation in Europe where it sells well, and this generation is turning out to be the best yet and one of the best in it's class.
