Ford Expedition shakes

My 2003 Ford Expedition shakes when I turn it on and while I am driving. It starts to shake when I go pass 55 mph but if I go under 50 mph it doesn't shake. Can someone help?! Thanks in advance!

its been about 2 month since I got new tires and rims since the ones I had were all bent. I got the alignment and balance done too.

thanks Zivic!
MongGrel I went to go get my flat tire patched up and they checked all of them and when they took the tire off they showed me the rims were bent.

Yes Zivic I replaced the whole wheel..

it was a joke 😉 rims are what tractors use... cars use wheels

in all seriousness, check the u-joints. relative had a 4 runner that shook like crazy due to a failing u-joint... same with a worker of mine on their AWD minivan

LOL..ok thanks! and I don't know much about cars or trucks just the basics since I was never taught and because I am a girl that doesn't know much about mechanic. Thanks

So, nobody has assigned any importance to this? Sounds like it requires further explanation. Makes me think that this has nothing whatsoever to do with tires or wheels.

IMO could be separate issues.

on startup could be fuel injector, vacuum line, throttlebody, plugs/coil issue. while driving it likely is something else if it is dependent upon speed. regardless, the truck is no virgin being an '03... I am sure she has a few miles and a few items on the maintenance schedule that might have been overlooked along the way

why do you say that boomerang?
If it's a tire or wheel problem why is it shaking when the car isn't moving? It can't be the tires or wheels, they're not rotating they're sitting still.

So, if you start the car and it's idling. Is it shaking?

Really? All these things happened at the same time? The engine has developed a rough running, missing condition and the tires and/or wheels are acting up at the same time?

Maybe it's the radio.

my guess is it is a neglected vehicle and I further believe the shaking at startup isn't a new symptom... possibly just gotten worse over time and now that they notice the shaking at 55+ are mentioning it as they are becoming more aware of other problems with the vehicle.

OP, how many miles on the truck?
original owner? maintenance records?
whats the general condition of the vehicle?

Motor mounts and check to make sure all the spark plugs are still where they are supposed to be and secure (Ford modular v8 spark plug issue).

If its a 2003, then either would be expected and not a big deal to fix.

As for the over 55 shaking, wheel balance weight might have popped off the rim.

My thoughts are that the over 55 shaking is RPM related and directly tied to the problem at start up. Easy enough to verify by driving at that RPM in a lower gear.

could definitely be RPM based. paul makes a good point to check the motor mounts as well

I should have jumped on here last night you guys are amazing. All these suggestions that could be the problem.

I am not the original owner
I have had it for 1 year. When I got the truck it didn't shake it started shaking around 3 months ago I waited to get it checked to come up with money to pay for a mechanic to check which I got charged $20.
I took it to the tire shop to get my flat fixed and that's when they told me that my rims were bent so I got new rims and tires.
Also about 7 months ago I got my lower joints changed.

Pretty much what I was inferring to begin with.

Sounds like the OP bought an old beater to begin with then, sometimes there is no real solution other to buy a newer vehicle, unless it is something considered a classic and worth restoring.

I have driven it on the lower gear of the RPM and it doesn't shake it only shakes when I turn on the truck and when I got 55+.

When it "shakes" at 55+....is it when you trying to just keep a steady speed?

How about when you really get on it? Does it still shake?
