I truely hate ford (atm) ... but if this guy is worth his dollar, then ford might become the new toyota/lexus.

just what i was thinking.

So are they really going to sell off Aston Martin and Jaguar to focus on Volvo and their core brands? WSJ seems to think so.

Edit: Looks like they are selling of Aston and keeping Jaguar and Land Rover. I think it'd be cool if they sold or spun-off all 3 into a separate British premium car company.

Well, at least he picked the right company...........LEXUS!!!!! :D

Notice he's not driving an M5??????? (Obligatory BMW bashing!!!!!!!) ;)

Man............one can only hope that he has the juevos to do something at Ford. Otherwise I literally have NO IDEA why people buy from any of the big 3 here in America.......(except MAYBE Chrysler, but even then, why bother.....just buy a Toyota/Honda)

This car gets 18mpg in town...that's not much better than an SUV that can tow, fit more people, haul more stuff, and go more places. Why isn't the anti-SUV brigade calling foul on this?

I agree. This is just what any CEO should be. Someone who can look at the competition and say, "We suck", and then turn things around. If you don't know you suck, then you can't make things better.

Because most SUV's get far worse.....(despite what's advertised)......and the best thing Ford has to offer in a "flagship" vs. the LS430 would be the dated/dead/needs to be buried a loooong time ago..........Crown Vic, which the LS430 one ups in both gas mileage and......(well).......about 1000x "ups" in terms of quality, craftsmanship, refinement, etc. etc. etc. etc.

People want a car like an LS430 so they'll get it.

If they want meiserly, they can always buy a........... GS450h

What possible relevance could this have in the context of this discussion? Why is an auto executive required to drive around in an econo-mobile?

so he should sell his car after he got his job at ford? that'd be the same BS that GM won't let employees park in their garage if their car is not a GM IIRC.

Nothing will bring Ford out of debt until they do something about the unions.

Yep, Americans should be making $3hr to build a car with no health insurance or retirement.

In your small little mind is there room for the realization that the best option is probably somewhere in the middle?

It's a heavy car with a V8, what would you expect? A person capable of affording an LS430 isn't going to pinch pennies at the pump, they probably just want the smooth acceleration gained by motor with a little torque.

At least they would have jobs. I'm not confident the same can be said about Ford employees over the next 15 years.

Isn't Ford one of those companies who has designated parking further away from the plants for those employees who DON'T drive Ford vehicles?

iirc, it was one plant, and it was the plant manager's option.

Saw 2 the other day, man they are pretty nice, but I wouldn't ever buy one.

Also the new flagship lexus with the executive seating option is probably the best luxary car on the market right now hands down.
