Woohoo! That thing looks like a beast - Chrysler has proven with the Viper that a major U.S. manufacturer can afford to produce a limited, very high-end sports car, and to me the GT40 concept is one of the coolest cars in years. Ford has a very proud racing history to build on, and I'm glad to see that they are making a go of the GT40.
 
Thank you! Finding any 1600 x1200 wallpapers at all is hard enough. Finding good ones is impossible. This one is sweet!

Any idea what the price on that thing will be?

My guess is one of Hennessey's creations will outrun it & look better doing it, all for a cheaper price.

There is always room for disagreement in aesthetic matters, but I think you guys who are criticizing the GT40's appearance are nuts! Not only does it harken back to one of the most significant American racing cars ever built, it is beautifully aggressive and muscular and stands up wonderfully on its own, at least IMO.

Well beauty IS in the eye of the beholder................. when they won LeMans in the mid sixtys they would hit arround 200+ on the straights. Still not slow by todays standards. I would like to have Ford build the car and run it again with all of todays new systems I think it would still be compettive and who knows might even win it again.
 
It seems some of you need to look into history a bit - the GT40 was one of the coolest cars built in the 60's ... I think Ford's doing (at least so far) a nice job of re-creating the same look/appeal
 
you know.. i've got Thousands of high quality 1600x1200 images on my computer.. all archived.. all waiting to be put onto a website. The only thing stopping me so far is how to cover the costs of running the site, bandwidth issues, and basically.. getting time to put something together. Would you guys visit such a site? updated maybe once a month with new wallpapers? Can i make a living doing this? is it legal (i didn't take the pictures, they're found from various media sources)?

The Viper GTS is nice, but it is hardly a daily driver. And the interior is plasticy as a Geo Metro. The GT40 has more class😉

if you didn't know Hennessey is a bigtime scammer and con artist.

He stole 151,000 from a guy that wanted a TT 1000 HP viper. He took the money upfront and never produced the car.
Another person sent his vette in and 25,000 upfront and never seen his car again or his money.

he is in trouble with the FBI and is being sued for over one million dollars.

motortrend should write a followup in their magazine stating that they publizied a con artist (remember the 800HP TT article)

Do you have any proof of those claims? I dunno if it was you or not, but someone else made similar accusations when I mentioned the Venom 800. I actually talked to Hennessey's people a few years back when I was doing a calculus project. I got a bunch of data from them, they were very helpful.

If you have proof, fine. But I have seen nothing other than anonymous newbies making claims.

bill ford may just be the will ford has needed to make itself cool, rather than the corporate cover-your-ass types that have run the company for the past couple of decades. unlike those guys, bill's name is on the product.

Wow - strong words! If this is not true you could be sued for saying these things. I suggest a bit of care in making damning factual allegations against another person.
 
Gorgeous car, good comp for the '03 Viper that's coming out (which has the same HP/Torque too). I love the old GT40, and the updated version almost lives up to its ancestor.

I did not mean to imply you were lying. I'm not sure any of those sources is especially reliable, though, and simply restating or republishing slanderous comments is actionable. I am not accusing you of anything at all - I just wanted you to understand that you are treading on potentially dangerous ground.
