Forcing WinXP to take Win2k drivers?

I've loaded WinXP onto one of my systems, but for some reason, it doesn't want to tuse the Win2k drivers. I've got a Real3d Starfighter (i740 chipset). Since Real3d went bust a while ago, I"ve been using the Intel reference drivers. Now that I've loaded WinXP, XP doesn't recoginize the drivers, and instead forces me to use the Standard VGA driver.

The generic drivers work alright for 2d performance, but sucks when I try to play 3d Games.

Since this isn't my primary gaming system, I'm reluctant to shell out $$ to buy a new card and/or mobo (the kids will just have to suffer... ) Any suggestion on how to get WinXP to use the Win2k drivers?

Make sure when you go to update the driver, pick install from a specific location.

Then pick DON'T SEARCH, I will choose the driver to install.

That should solve your problem

Unfortunately, for some reason, it won't take win2k drivers for some things. My modem, I had to use NT4 drivers... nothing else would work. Maybe try NT or winME drivers.
