Hey folks.

I have a Powercolor Radeon 9700 and a Viewsonic P95f. The P95f can do 1600x1200@92Hz, but the card will only crank out 85Hz.

Is there some way to force the card to do 92Hz at 1600x1200? 85Hz hurts my eyes, and I want to give 92 a shot.

Thanks.

how can 85 hurt your eyes when below a 75 is suppose to? You must have inhuman eyesight

BTW, pushing your card to push out more than its max refresh is not safe for the card. Prepare for card crapping

You can try PowerStrip (has a free trial), but I doubt the card is physically capable of that output frequency. The R300 cards use 400Mhz RAMDACs, and that's 1600x1200x3x92 = ~530Msamples/sec. Even 85hz is pushing it, as the ~490Msamples/sec. required is well over the rated speed already. If the screen looks wavy and flickery (moreso than, say, 1024x768@85Hz), you're probably pushing the RAMDACs too hard and getting extra noise in the signal. I've never seen anybody complain about an 85Hz refresh "hurting their eyes" before, but hey, you may just be really sensitive to it. 60Hz drives me nuts, and there are other people at my office who don't even notice it.

My eyesight is what wins me my bread. ;)

Thanks, I'll try the Powerstrip thing. Now, if only I could get it to do 2048x1536@160Hz, I'd be set.
