Forcing HTC Incredible to charge to FULL

If you want to get more life out of your battery, try this:

1. Turn the phone OFF.
2. Plug the phone into its charger.
3. Charge until you get a green LED.
4. Unplug and turn phone ON.

If your battery was already "full", you will find that it will charge an additional 1-2 hours with this method. This suggests that perhaps the OS isn't doing a very good job detecting when the battery is "full", or its stopping at an arbitrary point before the battery reaches a truly full level.

In any case, this charging method has SIGNIFICANTLY increased my battery life. I can finally go a full day with moderate phone use on a single charge of the stock battery.

You sure its not a software thing to increase the life of the battery? My laptop only charges to an extent according to the state of my battery.

Possibly.

All I know is that I get more life from the battery by allowing it to charge to full while the phone is powered off, rather than on. I'm going to get the Seidio 3500MAh upgrade as soon as its released.

It actually does fully charge your phone. There are countless posts on www.androidforums.com about this. It seems to be an issue with the phone, but no one is sure whether it's software or hardware. I have also noticed that when you turn the phone off, it charges completely which makes my battery last incredibly longer.

pretty common on a lot of stuff. The device thinks the battery if full when its not. The new recoveries let you wipe the battery info...pretty handy.
