forcing drivers in XP-dual lne100tx?

ok, i have two linksys 5.1's in my machine... i had a 4.1 and a netgear before.. when i put in the linksys 5.1, it says "v4" in the device manager listing. i know it should say v5.. as i just installed one for someone using xp home (i'm using pro).

here's the problem.. windows keeps installing it itself, and not asking me.. and it refuses to recognize the drivers that came with the card as valid drivers (or maybe they're older).

Anyone have any ideas???

Any of these may work.

From the Control Panel, System Properties, Hardware tab, Settings, view the NIC properties on Your Computer. Update the driver and manually update and change the driver that the NIC uses. The other driver usually must already be uncompressed or expanded. Once this is done, the correct driver should be used.

If not, then remove your driver from the NIC (and the system), then install the new driver.

Finally, if PnP is working in such a matter, disable PnP in the motherboard BIOS. Disabling the PnP option in BIOS will not harm the way your PC works. If you install new devices, you don't really need to enable PnP, it will still work.
