Forcing DMA in Windows XP

I have windows XP and a TDK 16/10/40XA with an MSI K7T Turbo-R. The burner registers as PIO mode 4 in BIOS but I know that it can work with Milti Word DMA 2, as it did a while ago in XP. I am not sure what happened but now it is detected strictly as a PIO mode drive in XP even when DMA when available is selected. I was wondering if there is a way to force it back to DMA as I noticed that it burns slower and the computer slows down a lot while burning which was not nearly as bad with DMA.

Thanks

Check the BIOS settings to see if udma is enabled.

I had to do that on my MSI K7T turbo. Not sure what else to do.

If none of the above works, right-click and select "Uninstall" on "Secondary IDE Channel" (if your TDK is on the Secondary controller). You will be prompted to restart. After restarting, Windows will find again your "Secondary IDE Channell". You will now be able to set again DMA for your drive...;)

Thanks Ksnif, the uninstall/reintsall of the Secondary IDE Chanel worked great, it is now in DMA and I already feel the difference.

Thank You
