Forcing color profiles in games - how and why?

I've just calibrated my new HP LP2475w with X-Rite i1Display 2, and things look great. A little to saturated in the red as far as icons and buttons in applications go, but in Photoshop, Lightroom, and other color managed applications, everything look great.

However, I've read that games have a tendency of going their own way concerning color profiles, which may or may not unload the one you currently have. I do of course want good color in games too, and as far as I know, there are programs out there that can lock color profiles so that games have to use them, and not their own.

What I'm wondering is this: Should I enforce my calibrated profile in games too? Surely they have a good reason for setting their own color profiles - or do they? Who knows best; the games or I? Will I get more accurat color in games by enforcing my calibrated profile?

Thanks for any answers. :)
