I know that you can use the policy editor to remove the "last user logged in." But I am wondering what options are available to force a user's name to be displayed at the login prompt.

The problem I am having is that after I login under the administrator account, I would like to force the login name of the user to already be entered.

You can't force a name via policy but you can change it manually:

Taken from http://www.windowsitpro.com/WindowsSecurity/Article/ArticleID/21681/21681.html:

NT remembers the last logged account by storing it in the registry. NT stores the account in the DefaultUserName value in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon registry subkey.

To eliminate the additional Help desk calls, you must teach your administrators how to change the DefaultUserName value back to the original user account. To change the value, use regedit or regedt32 to change the value back to the original account manually. . . .

Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. I recall using this method a few years ago, but I couldn't remember the key location. Thank you again KB, your time is much appreciated.
